This is the Policía Nacional's antecedentes y requerimientos judiciales check, what Colombians call antecedentes judiciales or antecedentes penales. It returns the full name on file for the document, whether there are entries, the verbatim wording the source issues and the date and time of the lookup. It is not the same as the Procuraduría's disciplinary records, the Contraloría's fiscal liability register or the Contaduría's state delinquent debtors bulletin: each is kept by a different body and answers a different question.

Common questions

01How is this different from Procuraduría or Contraloría records?
They are separate registers. The Policía Nacional reports pending matters with the judicial authorities, that is, criminal records. The Procuraduría certifies sanctions and disqualifications held in SIRI, covering disciplinary, criminal, contractual and fiscal matters plus pérdida de investidura. The Contraloría certifies whether the person is reported as fiscally liable. Someone can be clear in one and listed in another, so a full check queries all three.
02Does a result with no entries mean the person was never convicted?
No. It means that at the time of the lookup the source reports no pending matters with the judicial authorities. Since Constitutional Court ruling SU-458 of 2012 the Policía publishes only certain entries, and article 248 of the Constitution states that only final convictions handed down in judicial rulings count as criminal records. A clear result is not the same as a blank history.
03Is this the official certificate? Does it replace the Policía's?
No. Each lookup goes to the source at that moment and returns what the source answers, structured, with its date and time. It is not the certificate the Policía Nacional issues in the holder's name, with its own number and validation mechanism. For a public appointment, a formal procedure or a procurement process you need that certificate.
04Can an employer use this result for hiring?
The lookup itself is public and free, but a hiring decision is not supported by a screenshot: for that, the candidate produces the certificate issued in their own name, and handling the data falls under Colombia's habeas data law (Ley 1581 de 2012). This tool is for checking quickly before asking for documents. There is a cap on lookups per hour from the same connection; for volume, use the Croma API.
