The full text of a DOF entry

Given an entry's id you get its record and its content: the heading, the publication date, the edition (morning, evening or extraordinary), the section, the first and last page, the issuing branch, the responsible agency and administrative unit, and the text exactly as published, available both as HTML and as plain text. It is the direct way to quote a decree, an agreement, a circular, a coordination convenio or the day's official exchange rate with its exact wording, without retyping it. Some entries, mainly section headers and older material, are published as an image only: the result flags those and gives you the record, its position in the issue and the official link instead of the text.

Common questions

01Where does the text come from?
From the Diario Oficial de la Federación. Croma queries the DOF and returns the entry as separate fields, with the link to its official page in the same result. This is an informational lookup: for legal purposes cite the official publication.
02Where do I find the publication id?
In the DOF by date tool: pick the day and copy the id field of the entry you want. It also appears in the address of each publication's official page, as a number of up to 12 digits.
03Is it free? Are there any limits?
Yes, it is free and needs no account. There is only a cap on lookups per hour from the same connection to prevent abuse, and one entry per lookup. For volume or daily monitoring, use the Croma API.
04Why can I not see the entry's text?
Because that publication ran as an image only and has no retrievable text. The result flags it and still returns the record, its position in the issue and the official link so you can read it. If the id matches no entry, the lookup comes back empty.
