What it shows

The full history behind the plate

A vehicle lookup by plate returns the record RUNT holds for that vehicle: class, make, model line, model year, color, fuel, engine displacement, body type, passenger and load capacity, VIN and the engine, chassis and serial numbers, traffic authority and registration date. It also brings the SOAT and technical inspection history, extended specifications, armoring status and the DIJIN and scrapping certificates. For a lender the most useful part usually comes last: registered pledges with the creditor's name and any limitation on ownership, meaning whether the vehicle already secures another loan.

FAQ

Common questions

01Where does this information come from?
From RUNT (Registro Único Nacional de Tránsito), Colombia's national vehicle registry. Croma queries that source and returns the record structured.
02Why do you also ask for the owner's document number?
Because the record is returned when the plate and the registered owner's document belong to the same vehicle. It is for verifying a car whose owner you already know, for example one offered to you as collateral, not for finding out who owns an arbitrary plate.
03Is it free? Are there any limits?
Yes, it is free and needs no account. There is only a cap on lookups per hour from the same connection to prevent abuse, and one plate per lookup. For volume, use the Croma API.
04Why does my lookup come back empty?
Usually because the plate and the document do not belong to the same record, because a character in the plate is missing or wrong, or because the document type is not the registered owner's. It can also happen with vehicles not registered in Colombia.
