The cases where a name appears

This lookup of Colombian judicial cases by name goes through the case files published by Rama Judicial and returns the list of cases where that name appears among the parties. For each case you get the radicado, the start date, the date of the last action, the court handling it, the department, the parties text and whether the case is flagged as private. Pagination tells you how many cases matched in total. For a credit or collections team it is the fast way to learn whether a borrower, a co-borrower or a supplier is already in litigation, and to get the radicado used to review the case in detail.

Common questions

01Where does this information come from?
From Colombia's Rama Judicial. Judicial cases in the country are public, except those under legal confidentiality, which is why some only show up flagged as private. Croma queries that source and returns the list structured.
02Is it free? Are there any limits?
Yes, it is free and needs no account. There is only a cap on lookups per hour from the same connection to prevent abuse, and results come paginated. For volume or continuous monitoring, use the Croma API.
03Why does the name I entered not show up?
The search matches text, so spelling matters: try the full first and last names, and try variants without abbreviations. Also check that you picked the right type, natural person or juridical person, because each option returns different results. If you have the case number, the lookup by radicado is the exact route.
04Does appearing in a case mean that person has a legal problem?
Not necessarily. A party can be the claimant, the defendant or an intervening third party, and a case can be ongoing with no decision at all. Namesakes are also common in Colombia, so two different people can share the same name. Confirm the radicado before making a decision about anyone.
