This is the same SUNAT taxpayer record, reached through an identity document instead of the 11-digit RUC. Use it when you hold the DNI of a freelancer, an individual supplier or a candidate and do not know their RUC: the response carries the linked RUC, the registered name, the trade name, the taxpayer type, the registration and activity start dates, the taxpayer status, the domicile condition, the tax address, the CIIU economic activities and the payment vouchers they may issue. An empty result means that document has no RUC registered, not that the person does not exist.

Common questions

01Does it only work with a DNI?
No. It accepts DNI, carné de extranjería (foreigner card), passport and diplomatic card. Pick the type in the form and enter the number exactly as printed on the document, with no spaces or dashes. DNI is preselected because it is the common case.
02How is this different from the lookup by RUC?
Only in the key you start from, not in the result: here you begin with a person's identity document and get the same record. If you already have the 11 digits, the RUC lookup is more direct. If all you have is a name, use the search by registered name.
03What does an empty result mean?
That the document has no RUC registered at SUNAT. That is normal for someone who never registered: it says nothing about the document being valid or about who the holder is. A valid DNI with no business and no fee receipts simply has no RUC.
04Is it free? Are there any limits?
Yes, free and no account needed. There is only a cap on lookups per hour from the same connection, and one document per lookup. To vet many freelancers or suppliers, use the Croma API.
