This is the lookup for when you have no number at all, only the name printed on an invoice, a proposal or a contract. It returns a list of up to 30 taxpayers whose registered name matches what you typed, each with its 11-digit RUC, its registered location and its status. Both company names and individuals registered under their own name, whether running a business or issuing fee receipts, show up here. It is not the full record: it is the step before, because once you spot the right RUC you can open the lookup by RUC and see the tax address, the domicile condition, the economic activities and the authorized vouchers.

01How should I type the name?
Between 3 and 100 characters, as registered at SUNAT. It matches partial names, so you can start from the distinctive part and leave out the S.A.C., E.I.R.L. or S.A. suffix if you are unsure of the exact wording.
02Does it return the full RUC record?
No. Each match carries RUC, name, location and status, which is enough to tell the right company apart from similar ones. For the tax address, domicile condition, economic activities and authorized vouchers, take that RUC to the lookup by RUC.
03Why do I only see 30 results?
Because that is the cap SUNAT returns for a name search. The response flags when it was reached, and in that case it helps to type the fuller name or add a word that sets the company you want apart.
04Is it free? Are there any limits?
Yes, free and no account needed. The only limits are a cap on lookups per hour from the same connection and the 30 matches per search. To reconcile whole customer or supplier lists, use the Croma API.
